Twisted Limbs
You stand and look at the tree,
not a passing glance, but a study
of it's wind blown limbs
and twisted branches,
torn by time and weather
into a gnarly tangle,
so like life, so intertwined
by struggle and pain,
yet still reaching upward,
always upward
towards the sun.

Love the history in those great gnarly trees.
A fitting tribute to these extraordinary limbs!
I visited Jekyll Island often and loved to bike to its northern-most tip, where the constant wind keeps blowing the trees into almost horizontal submission. Somehow they survive and thrive.
