Poem: Of Prisoners and Choirboys

Of Prisoners and Choirboys

You look perfectly normal
the burrowing scars unseen,
cankerous reminders
of a journey through madness,
a decent deep, consuming,
painful to remember, impossible
to ignore, and age of imprisonment
so short and dark, it echos
in the night, like a train's whistle
crying, moaning n the night,
calling you.
Calling you,
God's own tears
calling you back to him,
each teardrop like acid
breaking the chains,
so you can flee
back to his sanctuary,
and sing.
