Poem: Thriving on Chaos

Thriving on Chaos

Standing in the wall, you salute
the mason who so carefully crafted
the random stones into a wall,
the gray slate holding back the mountain,

a platform for your midnight dance,
unseen by any but God,
your personal jitterbug minuet, drunk,
not on wine, but chaos,

the maelstrom of thoughts, fears and passion
that prys you from your sleep, forcing
you to fight insomnia,
or embrace it.
