Into my second re-reading of books that have made a difference, and above is my outline of "You are what you think" by David Stoop. I have renamed the mind map to "You are what you say", because so much of the book has to do with how we talk about ourselves, both to ourselves, and to others.
Today, there are a lot of books and articles that say the same thing, bolstered by a growing body of brain research that shows that our self talk and outward talk actually retrains our brain to see ourselves and the world differently. If we want to manifest real change in our lives, this is where it begins, with ourselves and the way we talk and think about ourselves. And it can happen more quickly than most of us believe.
But Stoops book was written in 1982, before much of that research was done, and yet, he came to exactly the same conclusions that the research now shows.
