Warm Spell

The weather turns oddly warm.
Insects are born early
and plague the house like
a modern day Exodus plague

with no Moses plea to send them away.
They flock to your lights,
dancing to music
only they can hear,

not unlike yourself,
whose songs and hopes
seem mere buzzing,
a plague even

and go eternally
unheard.

We are having a warm spell here in Vermont. It's been a glorious fall this year. And yes, the bugs and mice are everywhere right now.

The picture was taken at Niagra, on the Canadian side. You can click on it for a larger version.
