Poem: Praying for Strangers

Praying for Strangers

You are in a strange place,
far from home, familiar and frightening,
silent.

You pray for strangers,
whose hearts you know
only by their words,

who nonetheless, are real to you,
so real that your prayers
carry power

that is not yours
to far away lands that lie
nearby.
