Poem: You Cannot Remember

You Cannot Remember

You cannot remember
that feeling,
that abandonment
of a child dancing to music
that resonates irresistibly,
sweeping your mind away, leaving
only an energy so pure
that it matters not
who is watching
for the whole world is inside
yourself
and the world beyond
does not exist.

Only in moments,
private moments
of sex and prayer perhaps,
does it flicker then leave you,
hungry for more,
wanting more than the moment,
unlike a child who has their moment
in utter joy, aware

of what you forget,
that this moment is not the last,
that music is eternal
and always
returns.

=====================

Alas, I searched all my photographs and had none that did this poem justice. My apologies to those who like my photos (sometimes more than the verse).
