Poem: Typewriter

Typewriter

To you it is not a mechanical relic,
but a reminder of your beginnings,
of a time before computers and magical technology,
of love letters scribbled on scraps of paper,

stores spun out on paper, your spidery handwriting
telling secrets in a diary, your
words flowing unbidden, unstoppable,
unexpected from a place in you

fragile as a child, yet enduring.

This is a lovely poem. My beginnings were on a beautiful old Royal typewriter of my grandfather's. I surely wish I had it now.

Love "spidery handwriting".
