Psalm 103You stand in the dark sanctuary,
gazing towards the door, focused
not on the dark halls,
but on the baptistery,
white marble and glistening
with promise and hope, lit
by a gentle sun that believes
in the promise of our wholeness,
that believes
we are more than our sin,
more than our failures,
much more than we are allowed to believe, for
we are loved tenderly,
made to sparkle
in our father's light.

The part of Psalm 103 that inspired this poem reads:
....The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
He will not always accuse
nor will he harbor his anger forever,
He does not treat us as our sins deserve,
or repay us according to our iniquities,
for as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love.....

And Tom, thank you friend. I too have had a long time away from my blog. The post you read was the first thing I have put up since April 29th. Everything is ok with me too...I just get caught up in my seniors graduating. Though I only traveled to Tennessee (not Venice) and stayed in a restored log cabin, it had a profound impact on me. That was just ten days ago. You have put words to what I am wrestling with...so much on my mind...I cannot quite bring it into focus. Tonight, I am at Seaside, FL on the Gulf Coast. I am deeply disturbed about the inevitable SEA CHANGE both literal and figurative... though for my few days here, I may be blessed to see the emerald waters and sugar sand beaches I have loved all my life...not yet touched by the evil oil...and I am praying for the dolphins and millions of other creatures.

It is probably no mere coincidence that "Psalm" rhymes with calm.
