Maybe it is because I am redesigning my own web site (which is many years too old), but I am reacquainting myself with some of the basics of design, and the design blog Fuel Your Creativity had the perfect solution - a wonderfully concise, complete article on the basics of design, all in a single entry. I would have said it could not be done, but it was, and elegantly.
