Poem: Sunday at the Shore

Sunday at the Shore

A small child stands at the window,
hair waffling in the wind,
still as a statue, staring
outward to sea as you watch, and

for a moment, that child is you,
looking past the moment
to a great beyond,
wondering at what lies beyond,
fearful of the magnitude of a universe
so far reaching, hopeful

for a God so loving
that even in the vastness,
his eye is firmly fastened
on you.

It's comforting to know that God knows how vulnerable we are.
