Poem: Road Trip
Road Trip
The road has beckoned you for years,
as you sat on your porch and read
of far off places,
places not just of geography,
but of the heart, of the soul.
And still, you stayed here,
in your place of comfortable sadness,
gazing at the road, envious and afraid
of those that traveled far
and found treasures, risking....
what? More pain? More sadness?
More of the same?
Until finally, on this cold March morning,
you went inside and packed,
prepared to travel
and see for yourself
what is really there.
