You are in an airport, far
from the one you love,
far from the soft touch
that brings energy to your life, far
from the voice that even now,
quickens your pulse. far
from the years of delight
and heartache, of journeys
to foreign lands and
inner landscapes rough and ragged,
far from the peace of a dinner shared,
books read, hearts melded, passion
grown of time and work and abandon
mixed in a wild stew bubbling
in anticipation
of your return.
